BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, Advocate - THE Keith Mitchell-led New National Party (NNP) will soon be presenting a Budget in Parliament for the benefit of the people of Grenada, and though it has been described as a “Holding Budget” until the final Budget comes on stream in December, Mitchell is expecting the proposals contained therein to offer some measure of hope to Grenadians.

Dr. the Honourable Keith Mitchell, Prime Minister of Grenada, shared the above as he spoke with members of the media here in Barbados yesterday, after arriving in the country on official business. Barbados is the first country Mitchell has officially visited in his capacity as the recently elected Prime Minister of Grenada. And after making a clean sweep of all 15 seats to oust Tillman Thomas in the February 19th General Elections, Mitchell has noted that in spite of his repeat performance of 1999, he is determined to remain humble and to focus on the business of the people. That business includes giving hope to the people, electing a new Governor General who will be female and focusing on the economic growth of the country, coming out of a terrible economic recession.

Given the fact that Elections were held on February 19th, PM Mitchell noted that the Constitutional requirements are that the 2013 Estimates of Revenue and Expenditure (Budget) have to be prepared and passed in Parliament before the 30th of April.
