St. John’s Antigua- Over the next five years, the University of the West Indies UWI’s distance learning programme – the Open Campus – will be receiving a total of $20 million Canadian dollars from the government of Canada. The donation was announced yesterday as Canada’s Foreign Affairs Minister of State Dianne Ablonczy spoke at University Centre in Antigua &Barbuda. She said the money will fund learning centres in 42 open campuses throughout the Caribbean. “The skills that will be developed will be helpful to investors here. If you want to set up a business here, you need to be able to hire people with skills, with technical skills, with the kind of knowledge that will help build a business,” foreign affairs minister said explaining the motivation of her government.
