PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC – The United States candidate for the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR), Professor James L. Cavallaro, has held talks with Caribbean Community (CARICOM) seeking support for his candidacy. CARICOM foreign ministers met here earlier this week under the chairmanship of Trinidad and Tobago’s foreign minister Winston Dookeran. A statement issued by the US Embassy here said that the Stanford Law School lecturer also met with key civil society stakeholders discussing several topical human rights issues including corruption and transparency, equal protection under the law and press freedom.
