PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC – President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping, is to pay a three-day State visit to Trinidad and Tobago, the Office of the Prime Minister has announced.
It said the Chinese leader, who will be accompanied by his wife, Peng Liyuan, will arrive here on May 31.
The statement quoted Prime Minister Kamla Persad Bissessar as saying that Port of Spain and Beijing have enjoyed diplomatic relations for the past 39 years and that there is a strong Chinese presence here namely in the areas of culture and trade as evidenced by the growing recognition of the Chinese New Year by citizens of Trinidad and Tobago and the numerous businesses being opened across the country.
