KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent, CMC – The chief executive officer of the International Airport Development Company (IADC), Dr. Rudy Mathias, says the cost of constructing the Argyle international airport has increased by nearly EC$200 million dollars (One EC dollar = US$0.37 cents) since construction nearly a decade ago. Speaking on the state-owned NBC radio, Mathias said in 2004 when the first estimate had been presented, the detailed designers for the project was not available. “So with better information in 2008 IADC engineers revised the cost of the airport project and we recognised then that the cost was now then EC$579 million compared to EC$480 million” estimated by the first group of consultants.
