Aug 14, 2013

Moscow, Russia: Bob Marley hits blaring throughout the Luzhniki Stadium; Russians walking around in the black, green, and gold of the Jamaican flag; every Jamaican in Moscow an instant hit, the centre of attention. These are the inroads that Jamaica's early three-medal performance at the IAAF World Championships in Athletics have made on the conservative Russian public, and while happy with the team's medal bounty so far, Jamaica's technical leader, Maurice Wilson, is warning that nothing should be taken for granted going forward. Sprint stars Usain Bolt and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce have both secured 100m gold medals for Jamaica, while Nesta Carter took home the bronze in what has been a positive start for the Jamaicans here.
