KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent, CMC – The St. Vincent and the Grenadines government says it is holding talks with public sector trade unions regarding the payment of outstanding arrears to civil servants.
Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves told reporters that his administration is seeking to pay the remaining half of the three per cent wage increase owed to public servants since January 2011.
The payment had been deferred because of the poor state of the local economy and Gonsalves, who is also Minister of Finance, said that the remaining amount could be paid in October.
