Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, the Hon. Gaston Browne, has identified health, the development of human resources, construction and sports among the areas of high level cooperation between Cuba and the countries of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).
Such cooperation, he said, had effectively contributed to the growth of well-being of the peoples of the Community.
His comments were contained in a Statement issued on the occasion of CARICOM-Cuba Day which was observed on December 8, 2015.
We wish to highlight the extent and strength of the cooperation between Cuba and the countries of the Caribbean Community in areas such as health, the development of human resources, construction and sports. Such cooperation has effectively contributed to the growth of wellbeing of our peoples. In this regard, we express our sincere appreciation to the government of Cuba for its continued support and for the extension of this goodwill, particularly for the financing of the Caribbean Regional School of Arts in Jamaica, and the Centre for Treatment of Physical Disabilities to assist physically challenged children, to be based in Guyana. Antigua and Barbuda reiterates its commitment to continue promoting social initiatives between our countries. We welcome the implementation of projects to improve connectivity between our countries and broaden our economic and trade relations through the finalisation and implementation of the revised Trade and Economic Cooperation Agreement between CARICOM and Cuba," the Prime Minister said.
