Sep 20, 2015

The CARICOM Secretariat is currently implementing the “CARICOM/ SPAIN Citizen Support Security Project- Support for Youth Empowerment and Resilience” project, which includes the delivery of the Creativity for Employment and Business Opportunity (CEBO) follow up activities in 5 CEBO pilot Member States.

The CEBO training forms part of a regional project developed by the CARICOM Secretariat, to engage, motivate and inspire entrepreneurial interest and action among youth 15 to 29 years old. It emphasizes creativity and teamwork and is delivered through hands-on, interactive youth friendly methodologies. Topics such as Youth Entrepreneurship in the Caribbean” and “Grasping Opportunities under the CSME are covered under the CEBO training.

The Secretariat with the support of the Government of Japan, USAID and the UNDP Youth Innovation Project, piloted CEBO in five Member States in 2012-2013, namely, The Bahamas, Belize, Dominica, Jamaica and St. Kitts and Nevis. The pilot project involved the development of training manuals, the implementation of intensive 5 day training workshops and an evaluation. The countries that are included in the current initiative to roll out CEBO follow-up activities are: Belize, The Bahamas, Dominica, Jamaica and St. Kitts and Nevis. Due to the devastation of Tropical Storm Erika, Dominica will benefit from the workshop at at later date.

In seeking to further build St. Kitts and Nevis’s capacity to execute CEBO workshops nationally the CARICOM Secretariat, in partnership with The Department of Youth Affairs  conducted a partnership meetings with local stakeholders and the mentoring of 9 CEBO graduates to develop Bankable proposals. Please see below photo highlights from these activities.
