Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Economic Affairs, Planning and Social Security, Hon. Dr. Kenny D. Anthony leaves the state today to travel to Vienna. There, he will attend the Signing Ceremony of a Loan Agreement between the Government of Saint Lucia and the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID).
OFID made a US $18 million commitment in December 2014 for the Choc Bay-Gros Islet Road and Secondary Roads Improvement Project. Under that initiative, 27 km of highways and byways will be rehabilitated and expanded, to better handle the needs of an increasing volume of traffic in the island’s northwest corridor.
From Vienna, Dr. Anthony travels to Barbados to attend the 36th Regular Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM). Under the theme “CARICOM: Vibrant Societies; Resilient Economies,” the conference will commence with an Opening Ceremony on Thursday July 2.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to return to the State on Sunday, July 5, 2015.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Port Services and Transport, Hon. Philip J. Pierre, will act as Prime Minister during Dr. Anthony’s absence.
