China, Grenada “Renew Commitment”

China and Grenada have “renewed their commitment” toward strengthening their bilateral relationship, the government of Grenada announced this week.

The two sides “renewed” their commitment at a recent ceremony to mark the 10th anniversary of the resumption of diplomatic relations between Grenada and China.

Grenada established diplomatic ties with China in 2005 after severing its ties with Taiwan.

Chinese Ambassador to Grenada Ou Boqian said Grenada should “embrace” the opportunities China has to offer.

“China is willing to share opportunity of development with Grenada and welcome you to get on board,” Ou said. “History has proved and will continue to prove that this is a wise and brilliant decision to strong relations and friendship with the Chinese leaders.”

China has been a major patron of Grenada, most recently building a large block of affordable housing units on the island
