Prime Minister Rowley and President Granger Sign Energy MOU

(Office of the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago) Prime Minister Dr the Honourable Keith Rowley and President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana His Excellency Brigadier David Granger signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Energy Sector Cooperation today Wednesday 19 September, 2018 (at State House, Georgetown, Guyana).

Prime Minister Rowley said today represents a documentation of his country’s commitment to do more in its neighbourly relations with Guyana with respect to the generation of economic activity. 

Communications Strategy being formulated for Sustainable Energy in CARICOM

The Energy Unit of the CARICOM Secretariat has launched an initiative to formulate a Region-wide communications strategy for sustainable energy. The purpose of the strategy will be to create and increase awareness of challenges and opportunities in the energy sector; to facilitate behavioural change at all levels; to encourage innovation; and to facilitate the transition to new energy systems.

CDEMA implements post-Hurricane Irma legacy project in Antigua and Barbuda

Barbados — In the aftermath of hurricanes Irma and Maria which significantly impacted the islands of the Caribbean in September 2017, the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) launched the “CDEMA Legacy Project” to support the recovery and reconstruction efforts in Antigua & Barbuda, Dominica, British Virgin Islands (BVI), and Turks & Caicos Islands.

Emphasis is placed on assisting single, female-headed families, the elderly, and people with physical and mental challenges.

Region advancing protocol on Climate Change, Disaster Risk Management in Fisheries

BELIZE CITY, BELIZE, THURSDAY, 19 April 2018 (CRFM)—Fisheries officials from Member States of the Caribbean Regional Fisheries Mechanism (CRFM) met on 18 April, 2018, at the Montserrat Cultural Centre. The meeting was held to review and validate the Draft Protocol to Integrate Climate Change Adaptation and Disaster Risk Management in Fisheries and Aquaculture into the Caribbean Community Common Fisheries Policy.
