Barbados Youth Leaders Participate In National Consultations On Development Of 2020 CARICOM Strategic Plan

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Barbados, on Tuesday, 10 March 2020, hosted youth leaders to provide input for the development of the Results-focused Community Strategic Plan 2020.

The specially convened national consultation brought together youth leaders from the secondary level of the country’s education system; the University of the West Indies; Barbados’ CARICOM Youth Ambassadors, Chad Monerville and Tirshatha Jeffrey; and vulnerable communities, including the differently-abled.

CARICOM High Level Team arrives in Guyana to supervise Elections Recount

A CARICOM High Level Team is now in Guyana to supervise the re-counting of ballots from the country’s 2 March 2020 Elections.

CARICOM Chairman, Prime Minister Mia Mottley of Barbados, on Saturday announced that Guyana’s President Mr David Granger had requested that the Caribbean Community field an Independent High-Level Team to supervise the recounting of the ballots in all Regions, and that this was agreed to by Opposition Leader Mr Bharrat Jagdeo.

CARICOM Prime Ministers to make post-Elections visit to Guyana

Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley will lead a delegation of regional Prime Ministers on a special two-day mission to Guyana, starting tomorrow March 11. The chairman of CARICOM will be joined by Prime Ministers Roosevelt Skerrit of Dominica, Ralph Gonsalves of St Vincent and the Grenadines and Keith Mitchell of Grenada.

Action Committee on Food and Nutrition Security holds inception meeting

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) has established an Action Committee on Food and Nutrition Security which held its first meeting on Tuesday, 3 March, via video conference that was anchored at the CARICOM Secretariat.

The CARICOM Action Committee on Food and Nutrition Security (CACFNS) will share best practices and resources through effective interaction, communication, enhanced synergies and capacity-building in Member States.

CARICOM Chair To Host Meeting On COVID-19

Chairman of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley, will host a special meeting in Barbados tomorrow, Sunday, March 1, to discuss ways of protecting the region from COVID-19.

The meeting will take place in the Frangipani room at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre, beginning at 12 noon.
