St. Kitts and Nevis Leading Decarbonisation Efforts in the Caribbean

St. Kitts and Nevis (SKN) has initiated a multi-million-dollar project titled ‘Achieving A Rapid Decarbonisation of the Energy Sector in Saint Kitts and Nevis.’ The project, dubbed ‘SKN-100,’ aims to hasten the country’s shift to 100 percent renewable electricity and 100 percent high energy efficiency in public buildings within the next three years.

Knowledge Hub launched for 47th CARICOM Heads of Government Meeting

CARICOM’S ROLE CRUCIAL IN SHAPING THE FUTURE OF OCEANS

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM), has been an active participant in the negotiations for the Biodiversity Beyond National Jurisdiction (BBNJ) Agreement, a global Treaty approved by the United Nations General Assembly in June 2023. This Treaty focuses on the sustainable use and management of marine biodiversity beyond national jurisdictions.

CARICOM, GCF teams hold talks

A team from the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) held discussions with representatives of the Green Climate Fund (GCF) on the margins of the Fourth International Conference on Small Islands Developing States (SIDS4) in Antigua and Barbuda last month. The CARICOM team comprised Dr. Carla Barnett, Secretary-General; Ministers of Environment of Dominica, St. Kitts and Nevis, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines; Ambassadors of Barbados and Belize; senior officials of Suriname and representatives of the Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre (CCCCC).

CARICOM Team Holds Talks with UNFCCC Executive Secretary

The practical ways that the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Secretariat can support the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) in its preparations for COP 29 was a key topic when a CARICOM team held talks with the UNFCCC.

The discussions on Monday 27 May, were held during the Fourth International Conference on Small Island Developing States in Antigua and Barbuda, and also focused on the outcomes of COP 28.
