CARICOM identifies COP29 Ministerial Champions

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) has identified Ministerial Champions for key negotiation areas during the Twenty-Ninth Session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), which began 11 November in Baku, Azerbaijan. At COP29, CARICOM Member States will advocate for urgent climate action and robust financial commitments to address the unique vulnerabilities of Small Island Developing States (SIDS).

University of Guyana students tour Solar Photovoltaic Power Generation Plant at CARICOM Secretariat

Students from the Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences and the Faculty of Engineering and Technology of the  University of Guyana toured the CARICOM Solar Photovoltaic Power Generation Plant on the grounds of the CARICOM Secretariat on Friday, 8 November.

The group was the first of four cohorts of tertiary-level students who will tour the Secretariat each Friday in November as part of the activities to observe CARICOM Energy Month 2024.

Distinguished delegates, it is my honour to give remarks on behalf of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat at this important gathering of Statistics professionals. I take note of your theme 'Strengthening Statistics through the Regional Strategy for the Development of Statistics for a Resilient Caribbean Community (CARICOM)' and congratulate you on yet another year of dedicated service to the Community.

CARICOM Ministers hold talks with Global Environment Facility CEO on margins of COP 16

Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Ministers of Environment on Wednesday, 30 October, held bilateral talks with Mr. Carlos Manuel Rodríguez, Chief Executive Officer and Chairperson of the Global Environment Facility (GEF).

The discussions were held on the margins of the 16th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (COP16) in Cali, Colombia.
