This has been a landmark year for the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), as we marked the 50th Anniversary of the signing of the original Treaty of Chaguaramas with festivities across the Region. The occasion allowed us to reflect on our accomplishments and recommit to the vision of the CARICOM’s founders.

CARICOM Chairman's End of Year Statement

Our Community made steady progress to advance our integration movement in 2023. A highpoint of the year were the joyous celebrations across the Community for the Golden Jubilee Anniversary of the signing of the original Treaty of Chaguaramas. Under the theme, “50 Years Strong: A Solid Foundation to Build On,” we paused for reflection on the many seminal achievements since 1973 and recommitted to the vision of our Founding Fathers for a prosperous, unified Community.

CARICOM Gender Equality Strategy Aims To Fulfil Vision Of Protection And Economic Empowerment Of Women, Equitable Access To Education And Healthcare For All

Monday, 20 November 2023 (CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown):  Ministers responsible for gender affairs and equality from CARICOM Member States and Associate Members are currently reviewing the draft CARICOM Gender Equality Strategy, “Stepping It Up: A Strategy to Achieve Gender Equality in the Caribbean Community”, during the Forty-Sixth Meeting of the Council for Human and Social Development (COHSOD) – Gender.  The Meeting, which is being convened on 20-21 November 2023 in Barbados, reaffirms Member States

Legal Drafting E-Learning Programme

The Capacity Building in Legal Drafting Project, financed by the European Union under the European Development Fund-Caribbean Regional Indicative Programme (EDF-CRIP) and executed by ARCA Consortium, on behalf of the CARIFORUM Directorate, seeks to build the capacity of CARIFORUM States in the area of treaty and legislative drafting through training and sponsorship.
