Antigua registers 7% increase in tourist arrivals in July - CARICOM Business

Antigua and Barbuda has reported a 7% increase in tourist arrivals in July as the country continues to record a “steady rebound” in visitor arrivals in the wake of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic that had forced the closure of borders.

The Ministry of Tourism said during July, Antigua and Barbuda welcomed 24,673 visitors, an increase of 23,405 from the corresponding period last year and the 2019 record of 23,031.

Barbados Gov’t caps fuel prices - CARICOM Business

Effective August 19, consumers in Barbados will be paying less for gasoline and diesel as Prime Minister Mia Mottley announced that the price of fuel at the pump will be capped for the next five months.

Gasoline will cost BDS$4.48 (US$2.24) per litre, while diesel will be BDS$4.03 (US$2.01) until January 31, 2023. Mottley also said that the cap on the Value Added Tax (VAT) on gasoline and diesel, which was put in place five months ago, would be kept in place.

TT Central Bank authorises first company to issue e-money - CARICOM Business

The Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago has issued a provisional registration to PayWise Limited as an electronic money (e-money) issuer. The provisional registration authorises PayWise to issue e-money in Trinidad and Tobago from September 1, 2022, becoming the first entity, apart from banks and non-bank financial institutions, so authorised.

PayWise will also be allowed to enlist new customers. PayWise is registered as a payment service provider since 2019 by CBTT.

Chief Medical Officers in CARICOM receive updates on regional health coordination

Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) within the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) met on Wednesday 13 July to review updates on regional health system strengthening even as the COVID-19 pandemic drags on.

The 30th Meeting of Chief Medical Officers was convened virtually and saw them discussing inter alia, the CARPHA-led response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the current state of inoculation for COVID-19 and other infectious diseases.

OBJECTIVE

To choose a “logo” to represent the RJLSC. The Logo will be for the exclusive use of the RJLSC. It will appear on all material associated with the RJLSC, including its letterhead. The intellectual rights of whatsoever nature in the Logo will be vested exclusively in the Regional Judicial and Legal Services Commission, and the Commission will have the right to use and reproduce it, [whether in print or electronic and on Commission property and paraphernalia], into perpetuity, as it sees fit.

International Animation Writers Workshop 2022

This two-week Workshop (February 2-11) teaches primarily Guyanese and Caribbean nationals how to create their own 3-page animation scripts with a comedy/funny genre focus. This Workshop was designed to challenge Guyanese and Caribbean artists, animators, writers and creators to create
