Business Monday: Senator calls for more serious effort to aid small businesses

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, Advocate - INDEPENDENT Senator, John Watson is arguing for greater assistance to the small business sector in a way that would stimulate economic activity and put Barbadians back to work. And to this end he also called for a policy to reduce imports especially where domestic substitutes are available, and to review some of the duty free concessions which are allowed certain businesses in Barbados.

The North American firm has been meeting with CIL’s judicial manager (JM) Deloitte Consulting Inc. as a result of correspondence going back to 2013.

3.2 Million Euros for the CARIFORUM Services Sector

Bridgetown, BARBADOS, February 14, 2014.  The Caribbean Export Development Agency (Caribbean Export) in conjunction with the implementing partners CARICOM Secretariat and the Ministry of Industry and Commerce of the Dominican Republic (DICOEX) have been awarded responsibility for the implementation of a 3.2 million Euro programme by the European Union towards the implementation of the 10th EDF Services Sector Component.  Implementation of the services component will be a collaborative effort between the Agency and implementing partners CARICOM Secretariat and DICOEX.

Barbados offers safer houses course to workers in building trade

Bridgetown, Barbados, February 10, 2014 (CDEMA) - The Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic (SJPP) will be offering a safer building course to workers in the building trade from this month (February 2014).  This course is an adaptation of the Regional Code of Practice for the Construction of Houses Course which was developed by the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) in collaboration with the CARICOM Regional Organisation for Standards and Quality (CROSQ).
