NEW GLOBAL REALITIES DEMAND NEW CARICOM TRADE POLICY GROS-ISLET, SAINT LUCIA – While Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Countries are committed to and are active participants in international trade negotiations, some uncertainty has emerged amongst Member States concerning the benefits to be derived and costs entailed. There is also mounting concern over the scope and pace of the adjustment process, which would result from the conclusion of any or all of these negotiations. CARICOM 10K ROAD RACE RUNS OFF ON 3 JULY 2005
(CARICOM Secretariat, Georgetown, Guyana) The inaugural CARICOM 10K Road Race will be launched in Saint Lucia on the morning of 3 July 2005, just hours before the opening ceremony for the 26th Meeting of CARICOM Heads of Government.
The race is open to professional and amateur athletes from across the Region as well as other CARICOM nationals residing elsewhere. The race is a means by which the Community wishes to encourage CARICOM nationals to use physical activity and sport to promote healthy lifestyles, peace and cooperation, and to improve their quality of life.
REGIONAL HIV/AIDS STRATEGY FOR REVIEW AT SAINT LUCIA MEETING
(CARICOM Secretariat, Georgetown, Guyana) An assessment of the progress made to date in the implementation of the Caribbean Regional Strategic Framework on HIV/AIDS, specifically as it relates to such projects as the Global Fund, World Bank and CIDA will come under the microscope in Saint Lucia this week.
