(Jamaica Information Service, 2 July, 2018) Decisions taken by delegates attending the 39th Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of CARICOM in Montego Bay, St. James, will be communicated to the public following the event.
This was disclosed by Secretary-General, CARICOM, Ambassador Irwin LaRocque, during a press conference at The Jamaica Pegasus in New Kingston on Monday (July 2).
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator the Hon. Kamina Johnson Smith, said Jamaica welcomes the opportunity to host the conference, which is expected to address a number of critical issues that impact the economic and social advancement of the countries of the Region.
Ministers responsible for CARICOM affairs have recommended that the Strategic Framework of the CARICOM Regional Strategy for the Development of Statistics (RSDS) be placed before CARICOM Heads of Government for endorsement at their July 2018 Meeting in Jamaica.
The recommendation came after the Ministers deliberated on the Strategic Framework of the CARICOM RSDS during the Forty-Second Meeting of the Community Council of Ministers (Council) in Georgetown, Guyana, on 16 May, 2018.
The Council for Human and Social Development (COHSOD) will meet this week from the 2–4 May, 2018. The main focus of the meeting will be the implementation of the Human Resource Development (HRD) 2030 Strategy.

As the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) continues to take steps to ensure that its decision-making is underpinned by quality data, Heads of Government last week endorsed the preparation of the Regional Strategy for the Development of Statistics (RSDS), one of the key aspects of the Action Plan for Statistics in the Caribbean.
The Thirty-Eighth Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) was held at Grand Anse, Grenada, on 4-6 July 2017. The Prime Minister of Grenada, Dr. the Rt. Honourable Keith Mitchell, chaired the proceedings.
Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Heads of Government on Thursday signed the Agreement Establishing the Caribbean Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (CCREEE). The signing was done at the Thirty Eighth Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of CARICOM in St. George’s, Grenada.
