Statement by Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Honourable Karen Cummings on the Occasion of the Twentieth Special Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM)

Thank you, Mr. Chair.

I wish to place on record, on behalf of His Excellency David Granger, President of Guyana, sincere appreciation to the Honourable Mia Amor Mottley, Prime Minister of Barbados, for her earnest and energetic efforts to enhance regional integration during her tenure as Chairman of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community [CARICOM].

CARICOM Chair To Host Meeting On COVID-19

Chairman of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), Prime Minister Mia
Amor Mottley, will host a special meeting in Barbados tomorrow, Sunday,
March 1, to discuss ways of protecting the region from COVID-19.

The meeting will take place in the Frangipani room at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre, beginning at 12 noon.

Trinidad and Tobago to Host Special CSME Meeting in December

Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, OPM:  Trinidad and Tobago will host a Special Meeting of the Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) from December 3-4, 2018 which will focus on the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME).  The regional initiative is the sole item for discussion on the agenda at the two-day meeting in Port of Spain.

Heads of Government endorse Regional Strategy for the Development of Statistics (RSDS)

The Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) have endorsed the framework for the Regional Strategy for the Development of Statistics (RSDS).

The RSDS is being developed to strengthen and improve the availability of quality statistics for evidence-based decision-making across the Region. It is considered to be the Region’s gateway to building resilience and achieving sustainable development that is anchored on sound data.
