​CARICOM citizens, ladies and gentlemen, I am indeed happy to welcome all of you to our spice isle on this occasion; our 22nd inter-sessional meeting. The people of Grenada join with me in extending our characteristic spice isle hospitality that some of you have been accustomed to. We do hope that you enjoy and savor the Grenadian experience.

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) observes, with grave concern, the recent developments in the Middle East and North Africa, which have been sparked by the desire of the people of that Region for change. The Community expresses deep regret at the loss of life during the peaceful demonstrations.

​(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) I join the Chairman, Deputy Secretary General and the Director of PAHO in expressing warm greetings to you, the members of the Executive Board, who have the responsibility for piloting this noble venture which we are gathered here this afternoon to launch.

THIRTY-FIRST REGULAR MEETING OF THE CONFERENCE OF HEADS OF GOVERNMENT OF THE CARIBBEAN COMMUNITY, 4-7 JULY 2010, MONTEGO BAY, JAMAICA.  STATEMENT OF CARICOM HEADS OF GOVERNMENT ON THE SITUATION OF HAITI

 

Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), including His Excellency René Préval, President of Haiti, held an in-depth discussion on the post-earthquake situation in Haiti at their Thirty-First Regular Meeting held in Montego Bay, Jamaica.   The Secretaries General of the United Nations (UN) and of the Organisation of American States (OAS), as well as the Special Representative of the CARICOM Heads of Government on Haiti participated in this exchange of views.
