STATEMENT BY THE OUTGOING CHAIRMAN OF THE CARIBBEAN COMMUNITY H.E. DESIRÉ DELANO BOUTERSE, PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF SURINAME, ON THE OCCASION OF THE THIRTY-THIRD REGULAR MEETING OF THE CONFERENCE OF THE HEADS OF GOVERNMENT 4 JULY, GROS ISLET, SAINT LUCIA

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) It is a distinct honour, to address you at this auspicious occasion to deliberate on topics that can lead us to a peaceful, prosperous and a healthy community.

I take advantage of this occasion to compliment the Government and People of Saint Lucia for a warm welcome and excellent arrangements which will contribute to making this meeting a productive one.

(Caribbean Community Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) Good morning. I am delighted to be back at my first Regular Session of the Conference of Heads since 2007. It is good to be back among colleagues and friends.

I begin by expressing my sincere gratitude to you, Prime Minister Anthony and to the Government and People of Saint Lucia, for the very warm and generous hospitality that has been extended to me and my delegation since our arrival in your beautiful country.

REMARKS DELIVERED BY AMBASSADOR IRWIN LAROCQUE, SECRETARY-GENERAL OF THE CARIBBEAN COMMUNITY TO THE 33RD REGULAR MEETING OF THE CONFERENCE OF HEADS OF GOVERNMENT OF THE CARIBBEAN COMMUNITY, WEDNESDAY 04 JULY, GROS ISLET, SAINT LUCIA.

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) It is my honour and privilege to address this, the 33rd Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community.

At the outset, I want to welcome the Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Dr the Honourable Kenny Anthony to the chairmanship of CARICOM. In wishing him all success in his tenure as Chairman, I want to assure him of the full support of the CARICOM Secretariat in the exercise of his duties, as he leads the Community in the next six months.

CARICOM SECRETARY-GENERAL HEADS TO JAMAICA

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) Secretary-General of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Ambassador Irwin LaRocque will pay an official visit to Jamaica from Wednesday 27 to Friday 29 June 2012.

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) Let me first of all take this opportunity on behalf of the Heads of Government and other delegates of CARICOM to extend a warm welcome to His Excellency Felipe Calderón to this part of our Caribbean, the beautiful Island of Barbados and to the Second CARICOM-Mexico Summit.

For this we are grateful to the Government and people of Suriname.

I wish to extend a special welcome to the Honourable Arnaldo Brown, Minister of State, in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Jamaica, who is attending his first COTED Meeting.
