Remarks by the Honourable Carolyn Rodrigues – Birkett,  Minister of Foreign Affairs, Guyana and Chair of COFCOR   At the Opening Ceremony of the Seventeenth Meeting of the Council for Foreign and Community Relations (COFCOR)  Guyana International Conference Centre May 20, 2014 ,

It is a real pleasure for me to welcome you all this morning to the opening ceremony of the 17th Meeting of the Council for Foreign and Community Relations of CARICOM.  As I welcome our visitors to Guyana, I do so not only on my own behalf, but also on behalf of His Excellency President Donald Ramotar and the people of Guyana.  For our Special Guests who are visiting for the first time, even though your visit with us will be short, I hope that you would find it an enjoyable and a rewarding experience.  We are indeed honoured to host you all.

Opening Remarks by Ambassador Irwin LaRocque, Secretary-General Caribbean Community   At The Seventeenth Meeting of the Council For Foreign and Community Relations (COFCOR)  Georgetown, GUYANA 20-21 May 2014

It is my pleasure to welcome you to this Meeting of the Council for Foreign and Community Relations (COFCOR).  This annual gathering is the opportunity for the Ministers of Foreign Affairs to look back and take stock of the multiple activities undertaken by the Community in the promotion and protection of its interests.  It also provides the occasion to look forward to the prospects by analysing the trends, developments and events which shape the external environment in which our Member States operate.

Regional Commission to address the issues regarding marijuana use mandated by CARICOM Heads

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana)      Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) have mandated that a Regional Commission be set up to address issues identified in relation to marijuana use.

This announcement was made by Chairman of the Conference of Heads of Government, Dr. the Hon Ralph Gonsalves during a press conference that concluded the 25th Intersessional Meeting Tuesday in St Vincent and the Grenadines on Tuesday.

CARICOM Accepts Report on Antigua Led Inter-Faith Conference

KINGSTOWN, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines – March 13, 2014………CARICOM Heads of Government have endorsed the Report from Prime Minister, Dr. Hon. Baldwin Spencer on the regional Inter-Faith Conference held at the Jolly Beach Resort and Spa on the 17 February 2014.
Prime Minister Spencer delivered the Report during caucus Wednesday morning at the residence of the Prime Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines in Kingstown.

Remarks by the Hon. Kamla Persad- Bissessar, Prime Minster of Trinidad and Tobago   At the Opening of the Twenty-Fifth Inter-Sessional Meeting Of the Conference of Heads of Government of CARICOM Buccament Bay, Vincent and the Grenadines

I take great pleasure today in formally passing Chairmanship of the Conference of the Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) to Dr The Honourable Ralph Gonzalves, Prime Minister of St Vincent and the Grenadines.
I congratulate him and express my sincerest hope that his tenure will be rewarding and productive, and pledge every possible support that he will need.
My tenure as Chairman came as a source of great honour and pride for Trinidad & Tobago, as it coincided with the celebration of the 40th anniversary of CARICOM.

REMARKS BY PRIME MINISTER HON. DR. BALDWIN SPENCER AT THE START OF THE FIRST CARICOM INTER FATH CONFERENCE AT THE JOLLY BEACH HOTEL AND SPA,  17TH FEBRUARY

Representatives of Faith Based Organizations across the Caribbean Community.  I think it is appropriate that I commence with a few words from the Good Book which guides our beliefs. 

“Behold how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity” (Psalm 133). “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High, shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and fortress” (Psalm 91).

Welcome you all to this meeting of the Community Council and in so doing extend a special welcome to our chairman Senator the Honourable Camillo Gonsalves who is attending his first meeting and is immediately thrust into the leadership role. Minister in congratulating you on your assumption of the chair, I do so in the full knowledge that this Council is in very capable hands.
