Border Control Officers begin attachment in Belize

(Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) - The CARICOM Secretariat's Director of Single Market, Mr. Leo Preville says sustained capacity building is key for implementation of the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME).

Mr. Preville was speaking at a planning meeting ahead of the final segment of the CARICOM Skilled Workers Programme (SWP), which begins 31 March in Belize.

Representatives and focal points from the agricultural sector in CARICOM, on Tuesday, began training on an electronic market information system that is scheduled to be activated by April month-end. The system is intended to provide timely and accurate information about the availability of commodities on the regional market.

The Hon. Dickon Mitchell, Prime Minister of Grenada, will lead a review of the telecommunications environment in the Region. Prime Minister Mitchell is Lead Head of Government with responsibility for Science and Technology in the CARICOM Quasi Cabinet.

Working group established to advance maritime transportation arrangements

Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) have established an inter-governmental working group to advance arrangements to improve maritime transportation in the Region.

Senator the Hon. Dr. Amery Browne, Trinidad and Tobago’s Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, will head the working group which will include other ministers from Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
