Safeguarding endangered animals, plants in focus as CARICOM, CITES Secretariats facilitate workshop in Grenada

The CARICOM Secretariat co-facilitated a workshop in Grenada on 12 March that was aimed at helping to create legal frameworks and institutional guidelines to implement the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) of Wild Fauna and Flora. The CITES of Wild Fauna and Flora programme aims to safeguard endangered animals and plants from harmful international trade, thus ensuring their survival.

Second Workshop Held to Develop Regional Migration Policy

The Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration Workshop for the Caribbean was convened 1-2 November 2023 at the United Nations House, Bridgetown, Barbados.  Representatives from the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Caribbean, European Union (EU) International Partnerships and regional stakeholders met to further discuss the development of a Regional Migration Policy.

Keynote Address by CARICOM Secretary-General at 'CARICOM at Fifty' Symposium

CARICOM Secretary-General, Dr. Carla Barnett, delivered the keynote address Friday morning (14 April 2023) at the opening ceremony of a symposium to mark the 50th anniversary of the Caribbean Community being observed this year.

CARICOM Secretariat’s energy use under state-of-the-art energy management system

(CARICOM Secretariat, Georgetown, Guyana) - Energy at the CARICOM Secretariat is now managed through a state-of-the-art Building Energy Management System (BEMS).

This information technology allows the tracking of energy supplied and used by the national grid and from the Solar Photovoltaic Power Generation Plant, which was constructed on the grounds of the CARICOM Secretariat.

CARICOM negotiators have hailed the just-concluded agreement for the historic Ocean Biodiversity Treaty as an excellent example of the success that can be achieved when we work as one Region, with one voice.

The negotiations for the historic Treaty on Conservation and Sustainable use of Marine Biodiversity Areas, Beyond National Jurisdictions, concluded on 4 March 2023 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
