PANCAP Hosts Knowledge Workshop: Renews commitment to CSOs and NAPS integration in national HIV responses

The Pan Caribbean Partnership against HIV & AIDS (PANCAP) hosted a workshop on Knowledge Synthesis and Best Practices for over forty Caribbean leaders of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and National AIDS Programme (NAP) Managers. In general, the  workshop which ran from 22 to 24 November, in Trinidad and Tobago, equipped participants with the necessary tools  for sustaining HIV responses through improving efficiency, effectiveness and implementation of key strategies.

CARICOM lauds Suriname’s tremendous strides on its 41st Anniversary of Independence

 As Suriname marks its 41st Anniversary of Independence, CARICOM Secretary-General Ambassador Irwin LaRocque has lauded the country’s tremendous strides since attaining nationhood.

In his congratulatory message to His Excellency Desiré Bouterse, President of the  Dutch-speaking CARICOM Member State, the Secretary-General  noted the global respect Suriname has earned through its sports, culture and academic excellence.

Trade in services workshop underway in Antigua and Barbuda

A workshop that is exploring the feasibility of trying to obtain data by trading partners is underway in Antigua and Barbuda. The workshop at the Jolly Beach Resort began on Monday and concludes Friday.

The workshop is being conducted as part of the CARICOM Project – Support to the Forum of Caribbean States in the Implementation of Commitments undertaken under the Economic Partnership Agreement – Services Sector Development – Component 5. The Project is funded by the European Union under the Tenth European Development Fund (EDF).

COTED endorses regulatory system for medicines roadmap

Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Ministers with responsibility for Trade have endorsed a roadmap for the implementation of the Caribbean Regulatory System for Medicines (CRS).

The endorsement was made at the Council for Trade and Economic Development (COTED) during its Forty-Third Meeting held last Thursday and Friday in Georgetown, Guyana.

Change citizens’ perception of security and law enforcement sector- Ramjattan

Guyana’s Vice President and Minister of Public Security, Hon. Khemraj Ramjattan  on Monday, 21 November, zeroed in on the need to address  Community citizens’ perception of the security and law enforcement sector. The Minister was delivering remarks to the  official opening of the  Seventeenth Meeting of the Council for Security and Law Enforcement at the CARICOM Secretariat in Georgetown, Guyana.

Belize’s Private Sector and Agricultural Producers Get More CSME-Aware

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat presses ahead with its public education drive to ensure that vital sectors know about the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME) and its significant benefits. On Wednesday, November 23, a one-day CSME sensitization workshop will be hosted in San Ignacio, Belize. Approximately 40 participants from private sector entities and rural organizations will convene at the San Ignacio Resort Hotel to share information and experiences regarding the CSME.
