PRESS RELEASE ON THE CARIBBEAN COMMUNITY ADMINISTRATIVE TRIBUNAL (CCAT)

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) has established a Caribbean Community Administrative Tribunal (CCAT).  The CCAT will be launched at a ceremony to be held on Monday, 17 February 2020 at the Caribbean Examination Council (CXC) Headquarters in Barbados, at which the Members of the Tribunal will be sworn in.

CARICOM Heads of Government approved the establishment of the Tribunal at their Thirtieth Inter-Sessional Meeting in St. Kitts and Nevis in February 2019. 

CARICOM Health Ministers to hold Emergency Meeting on deadly Coronavirus

The Region’s Health Ministers will hold an emergency meeting on Monday 3 February on the novel Coronavirus which the World Health Organisation has now classified as a Public Health Emergency of International Concern.

The novel Coronavirus outbreak which originated in Wahun City, Hubei Province, China, started in December 2019 and, up to this week about eight thousand cases have been laboratory-confirmed globally, with eighty-two cases  confirmed outside of China.

CARICOM expresses condolences with passing of SVG’s former Governor General

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) has extended sympathy to the Government and people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines on the death of the country’s former Governor-General, Sir Frederick Ballantyne.

Sir Frederick, who served as Governor General from 2002 to July 2019, died last Thursday at the age of 83.

CARICOM Secretariat launches solar project for Headquarter's Building

A project that will see the CARICOM Secretariat’s Headquarters Building in Georgetown, Guyana generating 100 percent of its electricity needs through a Photovoltaic Power Generation System was launched with a sod-turning ceremony on Monday.
