PM GOLDING CALLS FOR CARICOM UNITY TO FACE GLOBAL CHALLENGES

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) Jamaica Prime Minister the Honourable Bruce Golding has stressed that the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) needs now more than ever its sense and strength of Community to confront the current global challenges.

The Prime Minister, in delivering the keynote address at Friday’s Opening Ceremony of the 12th Meeting of CARICOM’s Council for Foreign and Community relations (COFCOR), said that “together we can prevail and must prevail” as the Community combated the current global financial and economic crisis.

CARICOM FOREIGN MINISTERS MEET IN JAMAICA

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Council for Foreign and Community Relations (COFCOR) will conduct its annual review of the Region’s relations with Third Countries and International Organisations, and determine policy initiatives which could guide future relations ,during its 12th Meeting scheduled for 8-9 May in Kingston, Jamaica.

CARICOM SECRETARIAT PLANS WEEK LONG FOCUS ON ICT4D

CARICOM MOVES ON HARMONISING STATISTICS ACROSS REGION

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana)  A Technical Working Group (TWG) in National Accounts and Short Term Indicators has been established to prioritise and ensure the development of statistics in the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) in the areas of National Accounts, Short-Term Economic Indicators, International Trade in Services, and Investment Statistics.

For the next four days, we extend to you the keys to the conference of the future as change agents to a new approach in combating drug abuse in our respective territories.

According to the Drug (Misuse) Act of 1988, the Ministry of Health, through the Substance Abuse Advisory Council Secretariat, is the focal point for the implementation of mechanisms for the control, prevention and use of drugs.

OAS CALLS FOR GREATER INVESTMENT IN REGIONAL DRUG POLICIES
