CARICOM Secretary-General participates in Ivan Plus 20 Dialogue

Dr. Carla Barnett, CARICOM Secretary-General, participated in the Ivan Plus 20 Dialogue that was held in Baku, Azerbaijan. The event took place on Friday 15 November, in the margins of the Twenty-Ninth Conference of Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 29).

The Dialogue focused on shaping a resilient Caribbean by 2044.

Youth Advocacy Programme on Statistics launched

A programme to engage and empower youth to become advocates for data-driven decision-making, YSTAT, was launched during the Fourth High-Level Advocacy Forum on Statistics (HLF) in Placencia, Belize, 4 November 2024.

The programme is one of the activities to mark CARICOM Year of Statistics which also was launched during the opening ceremony of the HLF on 4 November.

JOINT STATEMENT | Second CARICOM-India Summit | 20 November 2024 | Georgetown, Guyana

The Heads of State and Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and the Republic of India met in Georgetown, Guyana, the location of the Headquarters of the Caribbean Community, at the invitation of His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali, President of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana, on 20 November 2024 for the Second CARICOM-India Summit.

CARICOM, India forging closer cooperation

Fourteen CARICOM countries will meet India’s Prime Minister, the Hon. Narendra Modi in Georgetown, Guyana on Wednesday, 20 November 2024, in a Summit deemed historic, as the first stand-alone Meeting between the Heads of Government of the two sides to be convened a CARICOM Member State.

The engagement is expected to strengthen an already strong relationship in areas such as economic cooperation, agriculture and food security, health and pharmaceuticals, and science and innovations.

CARICOM Secretary-General engages with key figures in the margins of COP 29

CARICOM Secretary-General, Dr. Carla Barnett, over the past week, held discussions with key figures in the margins of the Twenty-Ninth Meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), in Baku, Azerbaijan. The two-week Conference of the Parties opened on 11 November.

On Thursday 14 November, the Secretary-General met Dr. Mohammed Nagdee, Executive Director of the Caribbean Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (CCREEE).
