ST. JOHN’S, Antigua, CMC – The Caribbean Ombudsman Association (CAROA) says it will seek recognition from the 15-member Caribbean Community (CARICOM) grouping given the significant role of the office of ombudsman in the region. CAROA held its seventh biennial conference in Sint Maarten and the move to seek CARICOM recognition was among six “key points” outlined in the communiqué issued after the meeting. The delegates said that integrity is the hallmark of good governance and committed to developing a code of ethics to guide the offices of the ombudsman in the region, according to the communiqué.
