HAMILTON, Bermuda, CMC - The government-run Department of Tourism, which employs around 40 workers here and in New York, is to be abolished on October 1 as the new independent Tourism Authority gets ready to swing into action. Tourism Minister Shawn Crockwell has travelled to the United States to deliver the message to overseas staff. Staff members were told on Tuesday that they can apply for new positions with the new entity, although there are no guarantees of a job offer, or opt to be transferred to other civil service jobs.
