CASTRIES, St. Lucia, CMC - Prime Minister Dr. Kenny Anthony has rejected claims from sections of the business community here that St. Lucia’s membership in the Venezuela led Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA) would harm the island’s future socio-economic development.
St. Lucia last week announced that it had gained membership of ALBA and according to an official statement, “ALBA represents a significant avenue for St. Lucia to access very low-cost financing for critical national initiatives”.
The statement said that St. Lucia had also held talks with Venezuelan officials to purchase petroleum products from Caracas at highly concessionary terms and establish a financing facility for essential major projects in the social and productive sectors.
