In her address to the 50th Regular Meeting of the CARICOM Heads of Government, President of the Republic of Suriname, Her Excellency Dr. Jennifer Geerlings-Simons, reaffirmed that the Caribbean’s enduring strength lies in unity, cooperation, and collective action. She called for deeper regional collaboration to advance youth development, economic diversification, energy security, and climate justice, stressing the need to equip young people with the digital skills and entrepreneurial mindset required in a rapidly changing global environment. Emphasising food security, infrastructure, and self-reliance, she also highlighted Suriname’s emerging oil and gas sector as a catalyst for sustainable national and regional development.
