Elizabeth Solomon
Ms Solomon brings over thirty years of distinguished experience spanning law, strategic communications, diplomacy, and foreign service at both regional and international levels. Her career is marked by sustained leadership within the United Nations system, where she has served in a range of senior capacities addressing complex challenges in conflict recovery, governance, and foreign relations. Her assignments have included service with the Office of the Special Adviser to the Secretary-General’s Good Offices Mission in Cyprus; the Office of the Resident Coordinator in Sierra Leone; and United Nations missions in Kosovo and in Bosnia and Herzegovina. She has also held a senior role at United Nations Headquarters in New York, serving as Team Leader for the Caribbean Desk within the Department of Political Affairs.
Ms Solomon’s appointment to the Secretariat comes at a pivotal moment for the Community, reflecting the growing need for a coordinated, strategic, and forward-looking approach to foreign and community relations in an increasingly complex global environment. Her extensive international experience and deep understanding of multilateral diplomacy position her to make a significant contribution to advancing shared regional interests.
A certified Mediator and Arbitrator, Ms Solomon previously served as a Judge of the Industrial Court of Trinidad and Tobago, bringing to her current role a strong judicial foundation and a demonstrated commitment to principled dispute resolution. She currently serves as Assistant Secretary-General, Foreign and Community Relations, where she continues to apply her legal acumen, diplomatic expertise, and strategic leadership in service of regional development and cooperation.
