Ambassador David Prendergast, Director, Sectoral Programmes at the CARICOM Secretariat, represented the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat at the 14th High-Level Korea-Caribbean Partnership in Seoul, Republic of Korea, 5-6 November 2024.

During the Forum, Amb. Prendergast highlighted partnerships in food security and  CARICOM’s 25 by 2025 Initiative. The Region’s experience implementing the Initiative which aims to reduce the Region’s food import bill by 25 percent by next year, was also part of his discussion with participants.

"The CARICOM Secretariat and the Region value the strong partnership and cooperation with Korea which continues to be bolstered by the Korea-Caribbean Partnership by promoting cooperation in the field of agriculture, including addressing food insecurity issues faced by the agriculture sector, adopting climate change mitigation measures and building sustainable food systems," Amb. Prendergast stated in his presentation.

The High-Level Forum on the Korea-Caribbean Partnership is a platform for cooperation between Korea and the Caribbean, which was first held in October 2011.
