(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) Her Excellency Faith Doreen Radebe, the High Commissioner of South Africa to Jamaica will pay a courtesy call on His Excellency Edwin Carrington Secretary General of the Caribbean Community on Thursday 16 February at his office at CARICOM Headquarters, Georgetown, Guyana.
The High Commissioner is visiting the Secretariat with a delegation from South Africa to discuss issues related to the staging of the International Cricket Council Cricket World Cup 2007 which is being held in the West Indies.
The previous Cricket World Cup in 2003 had taken place in South Africa, and later that year, during an address to the Conference of Heads of Government in Montego Bay, Jamaica, South African President His Excellency Thabo Mbeki had offered his country’s assistance to the Caribbean with respect to the staging of the event.
The meeting between the South African delegation, which includes Ambassador Pieter Swanepoel, Director, Department of Foreign Affairs, as well as security and Ministry of Sport officials, and officials of the CARICOM Secretariat will take place on Friday at the Secretariat Headquarters.
