Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Heads of Government will hold their Twelfth Inter-Sessional Meeting in Barbados next week, from Wednesday to Friday, 14 to 16 February in Barbados. The Meeting, which will take place at the Sherbourne Conference Centre in St. Michael, will see the signing of the Agreement Establishing the Caribbean Court of Justice and the conferment of the Order of the Caribbean Community (OCC) Award on three outstanding Caribbean nationals - The Rt. Hon George Price of Belize, Sir George Alleyne of Barbados and Dr. Slinger Francisco (the Mighty Sparrow) of Trinidad and Tobago.

While busily engaged in finalising the arrangements for this meeting, Mr. Edwin W. Carrington, Secretary-General of CARICOM today began a hectic round of activities commencing with a visit to the proposed site of the CARICOM Headquarters Building at Liliendaal on the East Coast of Demerara.

The Secretary-General then received separately the new Ambassadors of Venezuela and of the United States of America. In between these meetings, Mr. Carrington held consultations with the CARICOM Trade Adjustment Study Team comprising Professor Compton Bourne, Principal of the St. Augustine Campus of the University of the West Indies (UWI); and Professor Havelock Brewster, former Guyana Ambassador to the European Union.

Secretary-General Carrington will conclude his busy day with a meeting with Dr. Rudi Webster and members of the Team from the Caribbean Cricket Academy now visiting Guyana. The Secretary-General, an avid cricket fan, will present to Dr. Webster, for the Academy, a copy of C.L.R. James' famous book "Beyond a Boundary" on behalf of the Caribbean Community. Mr. Carrington said "the idea was suggested to me by a friend in Trinidad last week".

The Secretary-General strongly believes that all West Indian cricketers can be motivated and strengthened by a reading of that historic book.
