(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) The Secretary-General of the Caribbean Community has announced that Mr. Noel Lee, former Director of Elections of Jamaica, will be Chief of Mission for the CARICOM Electoral Observation Mission for the 12 March, 2009 Antigua and Barbuda General elections.

Mr Lee will head a small team of observers knowledgeable in electoral matters. A Core team comprising the Chief of Mission and administrative staff from the CARICOM Secretariat is scheduled to arrive in Antigua and Barbuda on 5 March 2009 with the remaining seven members of the team, drawn from across the Community, arriving on 10 March 2009.

The participation of the CARICOM Electoral Observation Mission has received financial support from the Government of Spain as that country broadens its areas of cooperation with the Caribbean Community.
