(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) The passing of David De Caires will no doubt create a void in the ranks of Media Managers in the Caribbean Community. This “elder statesman” among the corps of media accredited to the CARICOM Secretariat had become a voice in advocacy for candid discourse between the Caribbean political directorates and the public through the intermediary of the media

His legal training and orientation seemed to draw him inexorably towards a representative posture and role whenever he perceived a situation or development with the potential to constrain the work of the journalism fraternity. In this role he was well known and his intervention and counsel widely sought and appreciated.

The Secretary-General and staff of the CARICOM Secretariat extend sincere condolences to his wife Doreen, family and relatives.
