NASSAU, Bahamas, CMC – The Bahamas government says it will make no comment regarding allegations of abuse at the Carmichael Road Detention Centre until the official investigation is completed. But Foreign Affairs Minister Fred Mitchell has criticised the main opposition Free National Movement (FMN) over comments that Cuban detainees at the facility had been beaten during an escape bid in May. Opposition Leader Dr. Hubbert Minnis told reporters that his party had evidence that at least five Cuban detainees were beaten in May during a failed escape attempt.
