Participants at a CARICOM workshop geared at preparing Member States’ representatives for the Conference of the Parties (COP) to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) to be held in Mexico in December said they were very pleased with the activity.
The workshop, which was being hosted by the CARICOM ACP-MEAs project at the Grand Coastal Hotel in Guyana, concluded on Thursday. More than 5 000 participants from 196 countries, as well as representatives of International Organisations, Non-governmental Organisations, and indigenous and local communities are expected to attend the the 13th Meeting of the COP CBD.
Participants of the preparatory workshop were of the view that the information and practice session they got were very helpful in preparing them to negotiate not only as individual Member States but also as a Regional Block. According to them, they also got a chance to collaborate on what positions the Region would take regarding specific issues.
Check out the clip above in which Project Coordinator, Caribbean Hub Capacity-Building ACP-MEAs at the CARICOM Secretariat, Dr. Thérèse Yarde, outlines how the workshop unfolded.
