The Caribbean Export Development Agency (Caribbean Export) in collaboration with the ACP Business Climate Facility (BizClim) is organizing a two-day International Workshop on Sustainable Energy Incubation & Development Fund in support of business in Bio & Renewable energies in the Caribbean, which will be held at the Creole Beach Hotel in Guadeloupe from the 20th to 21st of January 2015.

Many times, viable projects are delayed due to limited seed capital and early stage investment funding opportunities from mainstream investors. As a result, improved financial and technical support services are required to accelerate the deployment of projects that can deliver Sustainable Energy Enterprises in the Caribbean.
It is against this backdrop that Caribbean Export proposed an initiative that seeks to assemble private and public investors for the establishment of the incubator with the aim of enabling access to funding and providing early expert appraisal and structuring of sustainable energy projects through a workshop. In addition to facilitating access to financial markets, the Fund will also provide Caribbean bio and renewable energy SMEs with financing guidelines and procedures based on international best practices and applicable lessons from past studies.

The Workshop on Bio and Renewable Energy (RE) will bring together regional and international experts, private sector actors, local enterprises, policy makers, technology providers and regional and multilateral financial institutions actively involved in the development of renewable energy in the Caribbean to promote investment opportunities in bio-energy and renewable energy. This forum will also provide the opportunity to discuss the main issues and constraints faced by the private sector in developing their RE activities and to share experiences and lessons learned in the Caribbean and other ACP regions and countries.
The seminar will be officially opened by Mr Victorin LUREL, the President of the Regional Council of Guadeloupe, in the presence of the Deputy Executive Director of Caribbean Export, Mr Escipion OLIVEIRA.
