The Sugar Association of the Caribbean (SAC) has agreed to work closely with the Council for Trade and Economic Development (COTED) of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) to implement decisions taken by the Council in November 2014.

The Association held its Board of Directors Meeting on 12-13 December, 2014 in Georgetown, Guyana, where it noted and welcomed the decisions taken at the Thirty-Ninth Meeting of the COTED.

Among the decisions were increased Ministerial support for advocacy in the European Union (EU) and US markets and support for a strengthened West Indies Central Sugar Cane Breeding Station which is owned by the SAC.
