Which Caribbean countries have the highest level of gender equality?

The World Economic Forum has released its latest Global Gender Gap Report, looking at how countries around the world fare when it comes to gender equality.

The report examines a host of factors, including health and survival, educational attainment, economic participation and opportunity and political empowerment.

“The rankings are designed to create greater awareness among a global audience of the challenges posed by gender gaps and the opportunities created by reducing them,” the WEF says. “The methodology and quantitative analysis behind the rankings are intended to serve as a basis for designing effective measures for reducing gender gaps.”

So which Caribbean country has the highest rate of gender equality?

It’s Cuba, which was ranked 30th in the world, just ahead of Argentina and behind Spain.

The next highest-ranked country was Barbados, at 33rd in the world, followed by the Bahamas (35th) and Trinidad and Tobago (49).

Jamaica followed at 52nd in the world, with Guyana at 64.
