The CARICOM Special Ministerial Task Force on Food Production and Food Security (MTF) will convene a strategic meeting this week to chart the way forward for the agriculture sector following the significant impact of Hurricane Beryl on some Member States.

We are marking this Fifty-First Anniversary of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) as several Member States are assessing the extraordinary damage and destruction caused by Hurricane Beryl, the earliest recorded Category 5 hurricane in the Caribbean, and one of the most dangerous weather systems the Region has ever experienced.
(CPSO Press Release) The CARICOM Private Sector Organization (CPSO) held its first Coordination Meeting today, July 1st, 2024, for the mobilizing of the regional private resources to provide assistance to Member States, which may be impacted by the passage of Hurricane Beryl, currently affecting the Windward Islands.
As Chairman of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), I express deep concern and continued anxiety over the passage of Hurricane Beryl through our region. Initial reports have indicated significant damage and destruction to infrastructure and private property in some territories. As this weather phenomenon roars its way through the Region, we must continue to brace ourselves against the effects of high winds, storm surges along sea coasts, and heavy rainfall.
The Caribbean Community advises that, as a result Hurricane Beryl’s impending passage through the Region, the 47th Regular Meeting of CARICOM Heads of Government, scheduled for Grenada from 3-5 July, has been postponed to a date to be determined.
The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat is closely monitoring the development of Tropical Storm Beryl and other weather systems as they approach the Region.
There is currently no change to the scheduled 47th Regular Meeting of Heads of Government in Grenada from 3-5 July.
An update will be provided on Monday 1 July.
