EPG continues CARICOM's good office role in Haiti

Message of Condolence from the Caribbean Community - Crash of VoePass Flight 2283

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) is saddened by the crash of Voepass Linhas Aéras Flight 2283 in Brazil on 9 August which resulted in the deaths of over 60 persons.

We convey our deepest condolences to President Lula da Silva, the bereaved families and the people of the Federative Republic of Brazil  on the losses suffered due to this tragic accident.

Message of Condolence from the Caribbean Community on the passing of Ambassador Lorne Mc Donnough, CD

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) is deeply saddened at the passing of Ambassador Lorne McDonnough, CD, on Thursday, 8 August 2024.

Ambassador McDonnough had a career of distinguished service to the Caribbean Community. He served as the first Chief Executive Officer of the CARICOM Development Fund (CDF), where he managed, inter alia, the Country Assistance Programmes providing financial and technical assistance to disadvantaged countries, regions and sectors in the Community.

CARPHA Donates Public Health Supplies to Grenada to Support Recovery Efforts Post-Hurricane Beryl

In response to the recent catastrophic hurricane that struck Carriacou and Petite Martinique of Grenada, and Union Island of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA)  has purchased essential public health supplies to assist in improving hygiene, sanitation, and the prevention and control of vector-borne and other infectious diseases. The donation to Grenada was made on July 31st  and the donation to St. Vincent and the Grenadines will be done on August 7th, 2024.

CARICOM and Canada discuss resilience to natural disasters

Ahmed Hussen, Minister for International Development of Canada, discussed regional resilience to natural disasters and strategies for improving access to financing during a working breakfast on the sidelines of the 47th Regular Meeting of the Conference of CARICOM Heads of Government in St. George's, Grenada.

CARICOM and Spain decide on areas of cooperation for the next five years

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) - The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and the Kingdom of Spain have signed a new agreement for technical cooperation in food and nutrition security, health, climate change, and disaster risk reduction for the next five years.

These focal areas were approved at the IV Meeting of the Joint Commission of the Spain-CARICOM Fund which was held recently at the CARICOM Secretariat headquarters in Georgetown, Guyana.
