But ahead of the talks, Prime Minister Stuart is emphasizing that his administration, which introduced a number of cost cutting measures in the national budget last month, is not on a “crusade” to lay off public workers.

Discussions ongoing about use of medical marijuana

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, Advocate - As various states across the United States legalise the use of medicinal marijuana, and others debate its benefits, it appears that Barbados might not be entirely immune from the discussion. This, as sources within the island’s Ministry of Health revealed to the Barbados Advocate recently that at the “highest level”, the use of medicinal marijuana to treat pain, cancer and sickle cell treatment was being discussed. However, they noted that “any decision made regarding its use and acceptance as a treatment in any setting would have be evidence-based”.

FSC, Central Bank sign MOU

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, Advocate - A MEMORANDUM of Understanding (MOU) has been officially signed between the Financial Services Commission (FSC) and the Central Bank of Barbados ensuring greater stability in Barbados’ financial system.
