It gives me great pleasure to welcome you, Ambassador Noel, as Haiti’s first Plenipotentiary Representative to the Caribbean Community.  Ambassador, you, however, are far from being a newcomer to our Community and this institution in particular.

CXC managed nursing exams set for October 2014

CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana)     Representatives of National Nursing Councils of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) met recently in Barbados to complete the final review of the process to launch the CXC managed Regional Examination for Nurse Registration (RENR) in October 2014.

MESSAGE FROM THE SECRETARY-GENERAL OF THE CARIBBEAN COMMUNITY TO COMMEMORATE 16 DAYS OF ACTIVISM AGAINST GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE 25 NOVEMBER TO 10 DECEMBER 2013

The CARICOM Secretariat joins women and men globally to commemorate 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, observed from 25 November which is designated as the UN International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, to 10 December, the UN Human Rights Day.  This annual campaign spans these 16 Days in order to highlight the link between violence against women and human rights.

CARICOM Attorneys-General discuss implications of Myrie Ruling

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana)    The Legal Affairs Committee (LAC) of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) has discussed the implications for the Community and Member States on the recent Caribbean Court of Justice ruling in the matter involving Shanique Myrie.

CARIFORUM and EU reaffirm commitment to trade and development partnership

CARIFORUM and European Union (EU) trade officials held a one-day meeting in Grenada on Thursday 21 November, at which they reaffirmed the two regions' commitment to their close trade and development partnership.

The two sides discussed progress made so far in putting the CARIFORUM-EU Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) into practice. The EPA aims to promote trade and investment, underpin regional integration, and foster sustainable development.

It is indeed a great pleasure for me to join you at this session between the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and UNESCO taking place at its Thirty-Seventh General Conference.  I wish to express our appreciation to you, Director General, for affording the CARICOM delegations this opportunity to meet with you to discuss issues of specific importance to our Region.  I also wish, at the outset, to commend your excellent leadership of UNESCO, so eloquently expressed by the Executive Board in its nomination for you to serve a second term at the helm of the Organisation.

Commit to tough decisions and follow through – Chair of COTED

That was the challenge thrown out by the Honourable Carolyn Rodrigues-Birkett, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Guyana and Chair of the Council of Trade and Economic Development (COTED), on Friday.

Argentina´s first Ambassador to CARICOM presents his credentials

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana)     Newly appointed Argentine Ambassador to the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), His Excellency Luis Alberto Martino, on Monday, expressed his country’s willingness to coordinate, consult and cooperate with CARICOM.
He was speaking during an official ceremony at the CARICOM Secretariat headquarters, Turkeyen, Guyana where he presented his letters of credence to CARICOM Secretary General, Ambassador Irwin LaRocque. Ambassador Martino is the first Argentine Ambassador to  CARICOM
