‘Girls in ICT, Building CARICOM’ is the theme guiding the Community's celebration of International Girls in ICT Day on 24 April. The Day is an annual observance led by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) to encourage girls and young women to pursue careers in information and communication technologies (ICT) and Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEM/STEAM).
Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretary-General, Dr. Carla Barnett, recognised Grenada’s commitment to regional integration as the nation celebrates its 51st Independence Anniversary under the theme 'The Next 50: Embracing a Future of Development, Transformation and Unity.'
In recognition of the importance of aligning digital strategies and fostering collaboration, the Secretariat mobilised resources to support key initiatives. Funding from the 11th European Development Fund (EDF) facilitated the commencement of the ICT Sector Gap Analysis. The Secretariat contracted Technopolis France and Technopolis Belgium to assess the ICT sector in the Community, and held inception and other meetings associated with the project. The consultancy delivered a preliminary assessment and began virtual consultations.
